CSS Result 2026 is Out: FPSC Written Result, Passed Candidates List & Statistics

The wait is over for CSS 2026 candidates, FPSC has announced the written CSS result 2026, and 476 candidates have made it through.

The written examination was held between 4 and 15 February 2026. According to the CSS result figures, 24,321 people applied for the written stage and 17,351 turned up for at least one paper. Of those 16,342 completed the full set of papers.

The number that matters most today is 476.

It works out to the written pass rate of 2.74%.

There is another interesting number in the result. Out of the successful candidates, 239 are male and 237 are female. A difference of only 2.

If your roll number appears in this list, read whatever FPSC has written against the case before making any assumption about whether you passed or failed.

There can be reasons other than written performance for a result to be withheld.

Documentations and eligibility issues, for example, may have to be dealt with separately.

This is also one of those situations where forwarded screenshots and Facebook comments are not very useful. Check what FPSC has actually said about your case.

Just 476 Candidates Cleared the Written Exam

It is difficult to appreciate the 2.74% pass rate until the figures are placed next to each other.

17,351 appeared.

476 qualified.

So for every 100 candidates counted as appeared, fewer than three passed.

Another way of looking at the same result is that more than 97% did not make it through the written stage.

Anyone familiar with CSS results will know that low pass percentages are nothing new, but the figures still put the difficulty of the exam into perspective.

There is another reason that the written exam can be unforgiving, i.e. a candidate does not qualify on the aggregate marks alone.

CSS written Exam Passing Marks

A CSS candidate needs:

40% in each compulsory subject

33% in each optional subject

50% overall

The first two conditions are easy to overlook when people discuss only total marks.

Imagine a candidate whose aggregate is good but score in one compulsory subject drops below 40%. That attempt will be unsuccessful.

The same applies if an optional subject goes below 33%.

This is why the detailed marksheet is so useful after the result. It tells a candidate whether the problem was the overall score or one particular paper.

Male and Female Qualifiers are Almost Equal in CSS Result 2026

There is not much separating male and female candidates in the CSS result 2026.

239 men passed.

237 women passed.

A two candidate gap is so small that the written qualifiers are, for practical purposes, almost evenly split.

It is a simple statistic but one that immediately stands out when looking through the result figures.

What Happens Now?

For the 476 candidates who qualified, the next few months will look quite different from the written exam phase.

The remaining stages include:

• Medical examination
• Psychological assessment
• Viva voce

Their schedules are issued separately on FPSC.

Successful candidates do not need to panic and start preparing for everything overnight, but waiting until the viva date appears before thinking about the next stage would not make much sense either.

The written examination rewards subject preparation, revision and the ability to produce good answers under pressure.

The psychological assessment and viva look at candidates from another angle.

Once those stages are complete, the final merit result can be prepared.

And even a place on the final merit list should not be confused with getting a particular occupational group. Allocation depends on the candidate’s merit position, preferences, available seats and quota.

Is This the Final CSS Result?

No. 

The result announced on 31 August 2026 is for the written examination.

Passing it means the candidate can move ahead in the CSS process, providing the remaining eligibility requirements are satisfied.

It does not mean a final merit position has been awarded.

And it certainly does not mean an occupational group has already been allocated.

Those things come later.

For now, the 476 candidates have one very good reason to celebrate: they cleared the written stage.

Then it is back to preparation for the next stages.

If You Passed, What Should You Do?

First, check your roll number again and make sure you have read the official result correctly.

Then enjoy the moment.

CSS candidates spend months—sometimes much longer—preparing for these papers. There is no need to pretend that qualifying is just another routine update.

After that, turn your attention to the next stages.

Keep your documents together. Check FPSC notices regularly. Start learning how the psychological assessment and viva work.

There is enough time to prepare properly if you start before the schedule begins to feel urgent.

If You Did Not Pass

Do not start dissecting your whole attempt before you even know where the marks went.

First check:

• The qualified candidates list
• The written failed list
• The withheld/rejected list

When detailed marks become available, look at them carefully.

Sometimes the problem is obvious: one compulsory subject falls below the minimum.

Sometimes an optional paper causes the attempt to fail.

In other cases, there is no single disastrous paper; the aggregate simply does not reach the required level.

Those are very different situations and should lead to different decisions about the next attempt.

“Failed CSS” does not tell you enough.

Your marks do.
