CSS MPT 2027 Registration Open: Last Date, Fee, Eligibility and Apply Online Guide

The CSS MPT 2027 registration is now open, and candidates can submit their online applications until 20 August 2026. The Federal Public Service Commission has officially confirmed that the MPT will be conducted on Sunday, 27 September 2026, in 19 cities across Pakistan.

And this time we are not working with the expected dates or last year’s payment method.

FPSC released a detailed public notice on 2 August 2026, confirming the application fee, eligibility cut-off date, online payment process, test date, and application instructions. Candidates must generate a 16-digit PSID, pay the RS 250 fee through 1-link, and then return to the FPSC portal to complete the remaining application process.

If you have been waiting for the final notice before applying, this is it.

But do not rush through the form just because the deadline is approaching, FPSC has clearly warned that incorrect CNIC or date of birth information can lead to rejection, and candidates found ineligible can lose their candidature even after qualifying later stages.

CSS MPT 2027 Important Dates

The registration and examination dates come from the detailed MPT notice and FPSC’s earlier advance schedule for the complete CSS 2027 exam date and written examination timeline

What Has FPSC Confirmed in the Final MPT Notice?

The earlier advance notice gave candidates a working calendar. It told us when registration would open and when the MPT would be conducted.

The detailed notice goes further.

It officially confirms:

  • The MPT fee is Rs. 250
  • A 16-digit PSID is mandatory
  • Payment must be made through 1-Link
  • The old FPSC TR-6 challan won’t be accepted
  • Cheques, bank drafts and pay orders won’t be accepted
  • Candidates must return to the portal after paying
  • The examination will be held in 19 cities
  • The selected examination center can’t be changed
  • Admission certificates will be available at least 10 days before the test
  • Age, qualification, domicile and other eligibility conditions will be checked against 31 December 2026

This matters because some articles published before 2 August still describe the Rs. 250 fee as “expected” and refer to older bank-challan procedures. The new notice has now settled that question: CSS MPT 2027 uses online PSID-based fee payment through 1-Link.

FPSC advises candidates to rely on its official website and check it regularly because no claim will be accepted merely because a candidate missed information published online.

What Is the CSS MPT Test?

MPT stands for MCQ-Based Preliminary Test.

It is a compulsory screening examination held before the main CSS written examination. You must qualify for the MPT before you can apply for and appear in the CSS 2027 written papers.

Think about it as the entrance gate.

Passing through the gate doesn’t mean you’ve passed CSS. It simply allows you to enter the main written-examination stage.

The MPT rules state that the test is held to shortlist candidates for the written examination. A candidate’s MPT qualification is valid only for the same CSS examination year. So passing the CSS 2027 MPT qualifies you for the CSS 2027 written examination, not CSS 2028 or another future cycle.

Who Can Apply for CSS MPT 2027?

The detailed notice provides the following basic eligibility conditions.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree with Second Division.

The one-page notice gives the basic requirement, while the complete CSS Competitive Examination Rules contained more detailed provisions concerning degree recognition, equivalence and unusual academic situations.

Candidates with foreign qualifications, degree-equivalence questions or an uncommon academic history should read the full rules rather than depending only on a short online summary.

CSS MPT 2027 Age Limit

Candidates must generally be between 21 and 30 years old on the eligibility cut-off date.

A two-year upper-age relaxation is available only to candidates who fall within the categories specified under Rule 6 of the CSS Competitive Examination Rules.

That means:

CategoryMaximum age
General candidate30 years
Candidate entitled to official relaxation32 years

The detailed MPT 2027 notice does not increase the general upper age limit to 35. Candidate should therefore use the implemented FPSC rules, not proposals or social media claims.

CSS 2027 Eligibility Cut-Off Date

The official cut-off date is:

31 December 2026

FPSC will use this date to determine:

  • Age
  • Educational qualification
  • Domicile
  • Age-relaxation eligibility
  • Other applicable eligibility conditions

Your age on the application date isn’t the deciding factor.

Neither is your age on the MPT test date.

The official calculation is based on your position on 31 December 2026

Has the CSS Age Limit Increased to 35 for MPT 2027?

No.

The detailed MPT 2027 notice clearly states that candidates must be 21 to 30 years old, with two-year relaxation available under Rule 6.

There has been public discussion and a parliamentary recommendation about increasing the upper age limit.

But FPSC has now issued the actual CSS MPT 2027 notice without implementing a general 35-year limit.

Candidates Are Provisionally Admitted at Their Own Risk

Submitting the online application does not mean FPSC has finally declared you eligible.

The notice explains that candidates are admitted provisionally at their own risk. If FPSC later finds that someone does not meet the eligibility requirements, the candidature can be cancelled.

And the wording is strict.

Cancellation can happen regardless of whether the candidate has:

  • Appeared in the MPT
  • Qualified for the MPT
  • Appeared in the written examination
  • Progressed through other parts of the process

In other words, passing the test does not repair an eligibility problem.

Before applying, verify your age, qualification, domicile, previous written attempts and any relaxation claim carefully.

How to Apply Online for CSS MPT 2027

The CSS MPT application is completely online. Manual applications will not be accepted.

Follow these steps carefully.

Step 1: Open the Official FPSC Portal

Visit the FPSC Candidate Portal and select:

MCQ-Based Preliminary Test for CSS Competitive Examination-2027

Avoid applying through unofficial websites, forwarded social-media links or pages asking you to submit personal information outside the FPSC system.

Step 2: Create an Account or Log in

First-time users must create an account.

Candidates who already have an FPSC portal account can log in using their existing credentials and complete or update their profiles.

Use an email address and mobile number that you can access. Don’t create an account with details you’re likely to forget a week later.

Step 3: Complete or Update your Profile

Check your personal and educational information.

Pay special attention to:

  • Full name
  • CNIC number
  • Date of birth
  • Contact information
  • Educational details
  • Domicile information
  • Relaxation category, where applicable

FPSC has specifically warned that incorrect CNIC or date-of-birth entries can lead to rejection.

Step 4: Open the MPT 2027 Application Form

Select the correct examination and begin filling out the prescribed MPT form.

Read each field before entering information. Don’t assume that a question means the same thing as a similar field from another application.

Step 5: Select your Examination Center Carefully

The MPT will be held in 19 cities.

FPSC has clearly stated that the examination center can’t be changed once selected.

So think before clicking.

Choose a center you can realistically reach on 27 September. Don’t select a distant city based on temporary travel plans or the assumption that FPSC will let you change it later.

Step 6: Generate the 16-Digit PSID

After entering the required information, generate your unique 16-digit Payment Slip ID, commonly called the PSID.

This PSID connects your payment with your application.

Don’t use another candidate’s PSID. And don’t attempt to pay through an old challan form.

Step 7: Pay the Rs. 250 Application Fee

Pay the fee through any supported 1-Link channel.

Available methods include:

  • ATM
  • Mobile banking
  • Easypaisa
  • JazzCash
  • Internet banking
  • Over-the-counter payment at a 1-Link member bank

The FPSC Candidate Portal states that the fee paid against the PSID is non-refundable. Check your CNIC, examination and other details before confirming the payment.

Step 8: Log in again after Payment

This is the step candidates can easily miss.

Paying Rs. 250 doesn’t automatically complete your CSS MPT application.

After depositing the fee, return to the FPSC portal, log in again and enter the remaining required information.

A paid PSID and a submitted application are not necessarily the same thing.

Step 9: Review and Submit the Application

Before final submission, recheck:

  • CNIC
  • Date of birth
  • Examination center
  • Educational information
  • Domicile
  • Relaxation claim
  • Contact details
  • Fee status

Information claimed in the application is treated as final. The Candidate Portal warns that later claims not included in the form may be treated as an afterthought and may not be accepted.

Step 10: Save your Application Record

After submission, save whatever confirmation, tracking information or printable record the portal provides.

Keep the following safely:

  • PSID
  • Fee-payment confirmation
  • Application or tracking number
  • Submitted application copy
  • Login information

Take screenshots too. Not because screenshots replace official records, but because they can help you trace what happened if you face a technical issue later.

CSS MPT 2027 Fee and Payment Method

The official MPT application fee is:

Rs. 250

The fee must be paid against the 16-digit PSID generated through the FPSC portal.

Accepted payment channels

  • 1-Link ATM
  • Mobile banking applications
  • Easypaisa
  • JazzCash
  • Internet banking
  • A 1-Link member bank counter

Payment methods FPSC won’t accept

  • Old TR-6 challan form
  • Cheque
  • Bank draft
  • Pay order

This is a major change from older application habits. Don’t download an old FPSC challan from another website and assume it still works.

The public notice specifically says that payment through the old challan or the listed offline instruments won’t be accepted.

Is the Rs. 250 Fee Refundable?

No.

The official Candidate Portal says that the application fee, once paid, is non-refundable.

That’s another reason to verify the PSID and your application details before confirming payment.

Do You Need to Send a Hardcopy for the MPT?

No hardcopy of documents is required for the preliminary test application.

The MPT rules state that applications must be submitted online and that no hardcopy of the documents is required at this stage. Manual applications and applications submitted after the closing date won’t be entertained.

Don’t confuse the MPT application with the later written-examination application.

Candidates who qualify for the MPT will have to apply separately for the written CSS examination. That later stage has its own application and document requirements.

The written application window is scheduled for 10 to 25 November 2026, with the hardcopy deadline set for 4 December 2026. You can see the complete sequence in our CSS 2027 examination schedule

CSS MPT 2027 Test Date

The CSS MPT 2027 will be held on:

Sunday, 27 September 2026

The examination will be conducted in 19 cities according to the prescribed rules.

FPSC hasn’t promised that a center can be changed later. In fact, the detailed notice says the opposite: your chosen center will remain final.

When Will the CSS MPT Admission Certificate Be Available?

FPSC says candidates will be able to download their admission certificates from its website at least 10 days before the test.

Since the MPT is scheduled for 27 September, candidates should begin checking the website by around 17 September 2026, or earlier.

FPSC won’t send a separate personal intimation about the availability of the certificate.

Don’t sit around waiting for a letter, phone call or personal email.

Check the official website yourself. Download the certificate early and read every instruction printed on it.

CSS MPT 2027 Paper Pattern

The official MPT rules describe the test as:

Paper DetailsOfficial Rule
Total MCQs200
Total Marks200
Test Duration200 Minutes
Qualifying Percentage33%
Passing Marks66
ValidilityCSS 2027 cycle only

A candidate must score at least 66 out of 200 marks to qualify.

The MPT result is qualifying in nature. The marks aren’t added to your final written CSS score. Passing simply allows you to apply for the written examination for the same year.

CSS MPT 2027 Subject-Wise Marks Distribution

MPT subject area Marks
Islamic Studies20
Civics and Ethics or Islamic Studies for non-Muslim candidates 20
Urdu Grammar and Translation20
English vocabulary, grammar and comprehension 50
General Abilities60
General Knowledge50
Total 200

General Abilities includes:

  • Basic arithmetic at SSC level
  • Algebra at SSC level
  • Geometry at SSC level
  • Logical problem-solving
  • Analytical abilities
  • Mental abilities

General Knowledge includes:

  • Everyday science
  • Current Affairs
  • Pakistan Affairs

The MPT syllabus isn’t simply the six written CSS compulsory papers converted into MCQs. Urdu has its own 20-mark portion, and the official marks distribution follows the five areas listed above.

Candidates should also study the complete CSS syllabus and written-examination structure, but remember that the MPT and written syllabi serve different examination stages.

Does Appearing in the MPT Count as a CSS Attempt?

No.

Appearing in or failing the MPT doesn’t consume one of the three written CSS attempts.

The MPT rules state that, subject to the age and eligibility rules, there is no separate numerical limit on the number of MPT appearances.

However, candidates who have already used all three permitted written competitive-examination chances aren’t eligible to apply for or appear in the MPT.

Here’s the distinction:

SituationWritten CSS attempt consumed?
Apply for MPTNo
Appear in MPTNo
Fail MPTNo
Pass MPT but do not apply for written examNo
Appear in at least one written CSS paperYes
Already used 3 written CSS attemptsCannot apply for MPT

What Happens If You Pass the MPT?

Passing the MPT makes you eligible to apply for the CSS 2027 written examination.

It doesn’t submit the written application automatically.

According to the current schedule:

  • Written examination advertisement: 8 November 2026
  • Written applications: 10–25 November 2026
  • Hardcopy deadline: 4 December 2026
  • Written examination begins: 27 January 2027

This gives you a fairly short journey from the September screening test to the January written papers.

So prepare for the MPT, yes.

But don’t stop working on your written subjects. Use the CSS past papers and written syllabus alongside your MCQ practice. Waiting for the MPT result before beginning serious written preparation could cost you several valuable weeks.

When Will FPSC Announce the MPT Result?

The rules don’t provide a fixed CSS MPT 2027 result date.

They do say that the result will be published on the FPSC website and that no separate intimation will be sent to individual candidates.

FPSC may also conduct the preliminary test in batches if the number of applicants is particularly large.

Avoid relying on an unofficial result date unless FPSC announces it.

Common CSS MPT 2027 Application Mistakes

Waiting until 20 August

The portal itself tells candidates not to wait for the closing date.

A last-day application can turn into a mess because of:

  • Forgotten login credentials
  • Payment delays
  • Incorrect PSID use
  • Mobile banking problems
  • Portal congestion
  • Missing information
  • A form left incomplete after payment

Apply early enough to fix a mistake.

Paying the Fee but not Completing the Form

This is probably the most important technical mistake to avoid.

After paying through 1-Link, log in again and complete the remaining details.

Entering the Wrong CNIC or Date of Birth

FPSC has specifically warned that incorrect entries can result in rejection.

Don’t type from memory. Read the information directly from your official documents.

Selecting the Wrong Examination Center

The selected center can’t be changed.

Choose once. Choose carefully.

Using an Old TR-6 Challan

The old challan won’t be accepted for CSS MPT 2027.

Generate a PSID from the portal and pay through 1-Link.

Assuming your Eligibility has Already been Verified

Online submission is provisional.

FPSC can still cancel a candidature if the candidate doesn’t meet the rules.

Believing the Age Limit is Already 35

The detailed notice states 21–30 years, with two-year relaxation for specified categories.

A proposal and an implemented FPSC rule are not the same thing.
