You want to apply for CSS, so you start looking for CSS 2027 exam date and you open various websites feeling slightly panicked when on website tells you CSS registration starts in November and other says it’s in December and a social media post gives you a complete different dates?

CSS 2027 exam has two separate application stages. First is the MCQ-based screening test called MPT for CSS? Candidates who qualify for the MPT must then submit another application for the written exam.

Has FPSC Officially Announced the CSS 2027 Exam Date?

Yes FPSC has officially announced the working schedule for CSS 2027.

But, the dates are not permanently confirmed yet.

The FPSC document is titled as “Advance Public Notice” and notice says that the dates are tentative. The detailed public notice for the MPT is scheduled for 2 August 2026, while the written-examination advertisement is scheduled for 8 November 2026.

Prepare the Basic Information for CSS MPT 2027

The public notice for the CSS 2027 MPT is scheduled to appear on 2 August 2026.

Online applications will remain open from 3 August to 20 August 2026.

Do not wait until 20 August to submit your application, do it as soon as possible because on the final day thousands of applicants open the same portal, and you may face some problems or glitches while submitting the application.

CSS MPT 2027 Test Date

FPSC has scheduled the CSS 2027 MPT for 27 September 2026.

The MPT isn’t the main written CSS examination. It’s a qualifying screening test that candidates must pass before applying for the written stage.

Under the applicable MPT rules, the qualifying threshold is 33 percent marks.

Passing the MPT doesn’t mean you’ve passed CSS. It simply gives you permission to apply for the written examination.

Think about it this way: the MPT is the entry gate. The written examination is the long road waiting behind it.

The gap between the MPT on 27 September and the written examination beginning on 27 January is only four months. So you should prepare for MPT test but do not forget the written CSS examination which is the real challenge you have to pass.

Does the MPT Count as a CSS Attempt?

Appearing in MPT doesn’t use one of your three attempts for CSS written exam.

According to the rules approved by FPSC the three attempts are limited and applies to the written CSS competitive examination. The MPT is a separate preliminary test. If someone has used all the three attempts for CSS written examination cannot used the MPT to create an additional written attempt.

You should remember one more thing that an MPT qualification is valid for the particular examination cycle. Passing the CSS 2027 MPT qualifies you for the CSS 2027 written examination.

So even if you qualified for the MPT in an earlier year, you must qualify again for CSS 2027.

CSS 2027 Written Exam Application Dates

The CSS 2027 written examination advertisement is scheduled for 8 November 2026.

Online applications will then be accepted from 10 November to 25 November 2026. Only candidates who qualify for the CSS 2027 MPT can proceed.

Your MPT application doesn’t automatically become your CSS written examination application.

CSS 2027 Eligibility Criteria

New eligibility rules has not been announced by FPSC yet.

Unless FPSC publishes the new rules, the standard CSS competitive examination rules continue to apply.

CSS 2027 Age Limit

The standard age to apply for CSS examination is 21 to 30 years.

Age and other eligibility conditions are generally determined on 31 December of the year before the examination, so the relevant cut-off date for CSS 2027 examination would be 31 December 2026.

The two year relaxation in age is available only for the candidates who fall within specific categories mentioned in the official rules by FPSC.

Educational Qualification

A candidate needs at least a second division or Grade C bachelor’s degree from HEC recognized university, or an equivalent foreign qualifications recognized by HEC.

A candidate with a third division bachelor’s degree may still meet the qualification requirements if they have a higher degree with the required division or grade under the FPSC rules.

Nationality and Domicile

Candidates should meet the nationality conditions stated in the CSS rules and have a required domicile certificate.
